POOL ALARMS

Pool alarms are a requirement today if you wish to enjoy the use of a private pool. Your enjoyment of which can be swiftly curtailed if a neighbor's child or pet should intrude accidentally and drown. This world is uncertain and it is full of people who cannot respect private property. In order to accommodate your wish for privacy and pool relaxation many kinds of swimming pool alarms exist.

OTHER PROACTIVE DEVICES

First there are proactive devices which, although are not exactly pool safety alarms, can act with the same result. Attractive swimming pool fencing exists which can eliminate casual intrusion into the pool. If you desire to preclude the more determined individuals and pets then I suggest you use an automated pool cover. This is an expensive solution but not as expensive as a multi-million dollar lawsuit. It has the advantage of maintaining protection and safety of the pool with a fence.

THE INGROUND POOL ALARMS

Another model of pool alarm system is the inground pool alarms. These systems utilize two different sensors, sonic and infrared. These are configured into a unique manner to alert the house when someone or something enters the water. Sonic waves return a model, which represents the normal wave pattern of the pool. Splashing disturbs this model and immediately sets off an alert on a monitor located at the house or at the pool cabana. The sonic sensor has a wide field and can cover the entire pool area to alert whenever someone or something falls into the pool. The infrared sensors set up an interlaced field and are composed of many sensors to cover the entire pool. These systems are called inground because they are immersed in the water. They sit on the pool's edge with their sensor close to the water's surface. They communicate alerts to the monitor through wireless communications up to 200 feet.

POOL ALARMS FOR CHILDREN

Pool alarms for children may sound strange and gimmicky but they are not. There is a unique pool alarm for both children and pets. Unlike the inground pool alarm, this one uses a special wristwatch or attachment to pet collars. It sounds a very harsh shrill alarm should it be immersed into water. The monitor must be located near the pool on a table at waist high. It is a plug-in unit, which requires AC electricity to operate. This is a very economical alarm priced below $48. This system requires adult supervision and it does not work inside the house because of the limited range of the wrist units.

If you compare pool alarms, you will obviously see the advantages of the inground system. It acts as a true alarm system, it possesses a sleep mode, has a cycle rate that includes a day and night period and has an on and off position. It allows multiple locations for the security monitor, at the house and at the pool. It is battery powered. The wristwatch type pool alarm for children has a large advantage in its economical cost but has a limited range for its monitor.
